SimCity (2013) City Specialization: Electronics Reference Guide

City Specialization - Electronics Reference Guide

The electronics city specialization is by and large an upgrade to the more traditional industrial trading path. If your city has exceptional production of alloy and plastic, as well as plenty of educated works through the Community College or University, then and only then should you consider going own the electronics route. It's an extremely expensive investment, which is why it's better to manufacture your own plastic and alloy than importing it from the global market, but it's well worth it if you're down for long-term planning and ridiculously high profit.

To get started, you'll need quite a lot of income at first since higher education is a huge drain on resources. Once you have the community college or university, plop several industrial zones around it and eventually the dirty level 1 industrial buildings will transform into clean level 2 industrial buildings. Also consider the Recycling Plant; it may not supply a lot of plastic and alloy, but even a little bit helps.
