Thanks to a spot of datamining, we now know about the next crossover even coming to Epic Games’ titanic multiplayer battle royale game. The Fortnite x Batman: Welcome to Gotham event should begin fairly shortly and offer players a range of cosmetic profile and character customization items allowing them to celebrate their fandom relating to the iconic Caped Crusader. One question is sure to be on everyone’s mind, however: “How do I unlock the Fortnite Batman skin?”
How to unlock the Fortnite Batman skin
Although there is a known event character skin and plenty of Batman’s gadgetry has leaked as being useable in-game, unfortunately, a legit Dark Knight costume hasn’t currently been confirmed.
You can definitely come close to the authentic Batman experience even without an official Fortnite Batman skin, though. By completing different numbers of event challenges — which include tasks such as dealing 500 damage to opponents in a single match, scoring two eliminations with suppressed weapons, completing a lap of the in-game race track, and much more — players can unlock numerous items relating to DC Comics’ most beloved character.

What exactly is up for grabs? Currently, known event items include everything from the relatively mundane, like profile banners, through to a character skin and perhaps most excitingly a number of Batman’s own crimefighting accessories. These include his Grapnel Gun, which many players will have already put to good use in Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series, which in Fortnite similarly allows players to pull themselves towards a location before deploying Batman’s cape and gliding to their desired location.
The former doubles up as a reveal for the Bat Cape in-game Glider, while another exciting addition is the Explosive Batarang. This is said to home in on players, though it can also be put to more strategic use as a makeshift proximity min, sticking to the surface it strikes and exploding when an enemy player gets too close.
