What are Bottle Caps and Gold Bottle Caps?

Bottle Caps and Gold Bottle Caps in Pokemon Sword and Shield are essentially your currency for Hyper Training. We’ve got a full guide on Hyper Training already, but once you have completed the game, you will be able to maximize the IVs (Individual Values) of your Pokemon after they reach Level 100. To take part in Hyper Training, however, you will need to spend either Bottle Caps or Gold Bottle Caps.

ALSO: Pokemon Sword and Shield Galarian Corsola was morphed by climate change

Here’s the difference between the two:

  • Bottle Caps | Spend one to raise one IV to its maximum level
  • Gold Bottle Caps (which are much rarer) | Spend one to raise all stat IVs to their maximum level

How to Get More Bottle Caps | Gold Bottle Caps Location

There are a few ways in which you can get Bottle Caps. You will receive them as rewards for reaching certain Battle Tower Tiers, you can buy them with BP at the Battle Tower, you can get them for defeating difficult Max Raid Battles, and you can get them from the Digging Duo in the Wild Area.

Gold Bottle Caps are far more difficult to get hold of than regular Bottle Caps. We’d recommend, therefore, that you should go speak to the left of the pair of the Digging Duo in the Wild Area. You will find the Digging Duo nearby to the nursery.

Getting the Digging Duo to dig for treasure for you will cost 500 Watts, but it will give you the chance to earn some Bottle Caps and potential Gold Bottle Caps. Speaking to the Digging Duo guy on the left will at least offer more of a chance of receiving Bottle Caps, so speak to him, we’d argue.
