Mileena Mortal Kombat 11 Kitana

Is there a playable Mileena Mortal Kombat 11 character?

Is there a playable Mileena Mortal Kombat 11 character? Ever since the debut of the Mortal Kombat 11 Friendship mechanic, players have noticed that Mileena features in the friendship animation for Kitana. This was a particularly surprising appearance as she’s not yet in the game as a playable character, so that brings up one big question: Will Mileena be playable in the game?

Can you play as Mileena in Mortal Kombat 11?

The most immediate question that comes to mind is whether or not you can play as Mileena in Mortal Kombat 11. After all, she’s been one of the game’s many characters for several steps in the franchise now, and yet she strangely didn’t feature in Mortal Kombat 11.

Unfortunately, her inclusion in Kitana’s Friendship animation is simply that: a special appearance by a beloved, longstanding character in the franchise. While it certainly made for a surprising moment in the friendship trailer, players can’t use her in the game just yet.

“Yes, Mileena is in Kitana’s Friendship,” stated a tweet on the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account. “No, Mileena is not playable.”

Does the Mileena Mortal Kombat 11 reveal mean she’s coming to the game?

The lack of a playable Mileena Mortal Kombat 11 character is certainly disappointing to some, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she won’t be making her way to the game.

Consider the fact that they have what looks like a pretty high-quality model in the game for use in Kitana’s animation. That’s a big chunk of the work already done right there, but that’s not all. Aside from the model, they would need to do:

  • Voice acting
  • Special moves and the associated animations
  • Finishers, friendship, etc.
  • Additional animations (X-rays, death scenes, etc.)

So no, there is not a playable Mileena in Mortal Kombat 11 just yet. However, NetherRealm Studios has already done a good chunk of the work, so we may very well be seeing her make her way to the game at some point in the future.
