Introduction:

Maneater is an open-water RPG where you play as shark and grow your little pup into a large megalodon-like beast. It’s a decent game as we’ve said in our review and a great way to spend a weekend.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the game once

This is a pretty straightforward list so just beat the game at your own pace. It is a good idea to gradually chip away at collectibles as you go. Be sure to keep your sonar move on you, upgrade it as soon as you can, and constantly ping. This will make getting all the collectibles a lot easier since pinging them marks them on your map for later. Also be sure to get your infamy level up by destroying guard boats. This will make less of a grind at the end (which isn’t too bad anyway).

Step 2: Clean up the rest of the collectibles after you beat the game

You’ll be dumped right back into the world once you beat the last boss. It might be better to wait to get the license plates until after you beat the game since some of the are quite high and will require the Mega Shark’s jumping. Getting infamy up will also take a juiced up shark. Collectible maps are at the bottom.

  • This is also story-related and must be tackled in order to get to the next story bit. You do this by doing the other main missions in the checklist in the mission menu. Remember to click in the right stick to get the beast as it dashes off the screen, feed on nearby wildlife when you’re low on health, and to get the proper evolutions at the grotto before you tackle it.

Tricks Didn’t Help Ya (Kill the Apex Predator in Caviar Key)

  • This is also story-related and must be tackled in order to get to the next story bit. You do this by doing the other main missions in the checklist in the mission menu. Remember to click in the right stick to get the beast as it dashes off the screen, feed on nearby wildlife when you’re low on health, and to get the proper evolutions at the grotto before you tackle it.

I Thought You Were Tough (Kill the Apex Predator in The Gulf)

  • This is also story-related and must be tackled in order to get to the next story bit. You do this by doing the other main missions in the checklist in the mission menu. Remember to click in the right stick to get the beast as it dashes off the screen, feed on nearby wildlife when you’re low on health, and to get the proper evolutions at the grotto before you tackle it.

The New Apex Predator (Destroy all Apex Predators)

  • You’ll naturally get this after killing the sperm whale.

Survived Again (Survive Again)

  • This is story-related and can’t be missed.

Vengeance Is Mine (Get revenge)

  • This is story-related and can’t be missed. Just beat the game!

Deep Sea Explorer (Find all nutrient caches)

  • These boxes are strewn about. Some are even in the maze-like sewer grates and rock grottos (not your hideout). Be sure to ping with your sonar a lot to at least mark them on your map. There is a map at the bottom.

Garbage Collector (Find all license plates)

  • These boxes are strewn about. Be sure to ping with your sonar a lot to at least mark them on your map. Some of these will require Mega Shark levels of jumping so save some until after you beat the game. There is a map at the bottom.

Tourist (Find all landmarks)

  • You’ll need these in order to get all of the evolutions. These are the yellow signs with the narration that plays after you attack them. There are maps at the bottom.

Infamy Level 1 (Reached Infamy Level 1)

  • You’ll have to do this over the course of the game. Just wreak havoc and the “cops” will come after you. This is like the heat levels in a Grand Theft Auto game. Heat levels can die down temporarily, but your overall infamy level stays. Filling up the circle will send a “boss” after you. Kill them or knock out their ship and you’ll gain an infamy level.

Infamy Level 10 (Reached Infamy Level 10)

  • You’ll have to grind a little for level 10 since the game doesn’t require you to get your infamy level all the way up to beat it. The last few infamy levels are quite tough so be sure to have the proper evolutions equipped. A good dodge or more efficient feeding that yields more health are good ones to have. The last one requires you to tail flip things at the electric generator. Just do that and be sure to keep an eye on your health.
