With its newest update, it’s now possible to enable The Last of Us 2 cheats in order to make living in the apocalypse a bit more manageable. But cheats (or gameplay modifiers as they are called here) can often disable trophies as they break the game, make everything significantly easier. So do the TLOU2 cheats disable trophies? This question can also work for the many audio and graphics modifiers.
Do The Last of Us 2 cheats disable trophies?
If Naughty Dog’s approach to this specific game and its prior two titles are any indication, cheats should not disable trophies in The Last of Us 2. Given all the accessibility options, The Last of Us 2 was very accommodating to all players and didn’t lock trophies behind any of these accessibility options. Likewise, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy also did not lock trophies after enabling cheats.
However, there is one big caveat to all of this: You will have to beat the game first to enable these cheats and get these trophies. Because of this, cheats are only ideal for trying to mop up trophies on your second run or via chapter select. If you have just a few trophies to get for the platinum, this would be the easiest way to close it out.
By this logic and, again, the precedent set by the other Naughty Dog games, this means you should be able to play the new Grounded difficulty with some cheats on and get the Dig Two Graves trophy. However, the gameplay modifiers aren’t allowed on Grounded as you can see in the above picture. So these cheats indirectly disable the Grounded trophy.
But you can probably get the You Can’t Stop This trophy for beating the game with one of the few Permadeath modifiers on. Just make sure you have at least finished the game once first. The modifiers will be in the Extras menu upon completing the game and you should be good to go from there.
