During the initial section of Baldur’s Gate 3, players will be tasked with escaping from a Mind Flayer ship, the Nautiloid. While journeying through the ship, they’ll encounter a woman in a Mind Flayer Pod who begs the player to save her. However, with the choices the game gives, the task seems impossible to complete.
Players might also wonder who the woman in the Mind Flayer Pod is in Baldur’s Gate 3. Is she someone important, or just a random casualty of the Mind Flayer’s cruelty? We’ll go into detail below.
Can you save the woman in the Mind Flayer Pod in Baldur’s Gate 3?
When players approach the Mind Flayer Pod and click on it, they’ll find a woman begging for help. Unlike most others the player has encountered, this pod remains active and is surrounded by swirling red energy. The main character’s party members will implore them to keep moving and to leave her behind. Ultimately, it’s up to the player to decide what they want to do.
If the player decides to help the woman, there are a few dialogue choices to choose from. They can look for a latch that might open the lid, or do an Arcana check to see what magic is at work here. A successful Arcana check will show that Warding runes surround the pod and that it won’t open until they’re destroyed.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to damage or destroy the Warding Runes. Magic won’t work against them, and players can’t beat it open (no matter how good their build is) either nor is there any other way to open the pod. However, the player’s actions here do have consequences, even if they aren’t readily apparent.
Who is the woman in the Mind Flayer Pod in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Though players can’t immediately rescue the woman in the pod, they will get a better chance to know her soon enough. When the Nautiloid crash lands, the player will find themselves on a beach. When they explore the area, they’ll find the woman and learn her name, Shadowheart. Shadowheart is a High Half-Elf Cleric. Her initial reaction to the player character depends on whether or not they tried to rescue her. She will eventually act as of the pre-created starting characters in a future update.
