Will the KOTOR Remake add new content or remove it?

The biggest surprise of the PlayStation Showcase was the announcement that a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is in development. Despite being excited at the news, fans are also wary of how it’ll be handled. Details are sparse, so many are wondering if the KOTOR remake will have added content or if Aspyr will end up removing aspects of the game.

So far, no new content has been announced for the Knights of the Old Republic remake. We don’t know whether or not there’ll be content removed compared to the original KOTOR.

So far, we’ve only got vague statements from the reveal to go on concerning the story.

On the PlayStation Blog, Aspyr Media Lead Producer Ryan Treadwell make these comments on how the studio is approaching the KOTOR remake:

“We’re rebuilding it from the ground up with the latest tech to match the groundbreaking standard of innovation established by the original, all while staying true to its revered story.”

“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake is a tremendous undertaking, encompassing almost every aspect of the original game.”

So, we know there’ll at least be a few tweaks here and there with content as a side effect of updating the game to modern standards. However, it’s too early, and we have too little info to make any educated guesses on how faithful the remake of Knights of the Old Republic will be to the original.

Unlike KOTOR 2, the original game didn’t have a ton of cut content, so there’s not really a need to modify the narrative. If anything, I would expect content to be removed. KOTOR is a big game, and Aspyr might not have the resources or time to do a 1:1 remake.
