Elden Ring How to Respec

Elden Ring: Can You Respec Your Stats?

Many players will want to respec in Elden Ring at some point. Whether they made a mistake with a build or just want to try something new, reallocating stats can let players use items, abilities, and gear they couldn’t previously. However, it’s not immediately apparent whether players can respec in Elden Ring.

How to respec in Elden Ring

Elden Ring Rennala Respec

Before players can respec in Elden Ring, they must make their way through Raya Lucaria Academy and defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Once she’s defeated, she’ll give the player the “rebirth” option, which will allow them to reallocate any stat points they’ve purchased.

However, there is a catch. To use rebirth, Rennala requires players to spend a special item. Larval Tears can be exchanged for the ability to respec stats, but they’re exceedingly rare. Most players won’t have found one by the time they fight Rennala and may not see one for many more hours afterward.

One thing to note is that players aren’t required to spend the Larval Tear until they allocate stats and confirm the respec. So, if someone thinks they want to respec and find that they can’t quite get the build they want yet, they can cancel and not be out a Larval Tear.

The only place we’ve found Larval Tears in bulk is Nokron, Eternal City, which is unlocked as part of Renna’s storyline. Here players will find them in treasure chests and receive them for defeating some enemies. We also suspect there may be a recipe to make Larval Tears, but we haven’t run into it yet.

It’s also possible that Larval Tears are available at some merchants. We haven’t run into this yet, but players can purchase other rare items like Smithing Stones, Glovewort, Rune Arcs, and Stonesword Keys. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if we run into them being sold at some point.
