Why is Pokimane Taking a Break From Twitch and YouTube?

Pokimane is taking a break from Twitch and YouTube, which came as a shock to fans. She’s the most popular female streamer on Twitch and has almost seven million subscribers on YouTube, and is at the height of her career as a content creator, so fans are wondering why Pokimane is going on hiatus. We’ll take a look at her reasons for stepping back from Twitch and YouTube below.

Pokimane’s reason for taking a break from YouTube and Twitch

Fortunately, Pokimane isn’t taking a break because of health reasons or anything disastrous. Her note on Twitter about taking time off sums it all up pretty well:

“I’ve been feeling in need of a mental reset and some time to focus on myself and my life offline. In my opinion, proper breaks are essential to one’s health and career longevity, and I’m so grateful for the support y’all have shown me over the years. Thanks for putting me in a position where I’m able to take time off like this.

Looking forward to coming back refreshed and ready to make more content. 🙂

Take care, stay hydrated, and see you soon!”

One reason Pokimane might feel a bit burnt out is that growth on her YouTube and Twitch has leveled off after ballooning in 2020 and 2021. Besides a big spike in January 2022, she’s been gaining followers and views at around the same rate for the last six+ months, according to SocialBlade.

Even big channels can get into slumps, and it can be difficult to pinpoint why. She’s likely hoping that a break will allow her to come back and look at the issue from a fresh perspective.

As of now, Pokimane hasn’t announced a time frame for her return. It sounds like she definitely plans to come back to streaming, but it could be weeks or months before that happens.
