Hogwarts Legacy Put Away Wand

Hogwarts Legacy Put Away Wand: Can You Holster Your Wand?

Trying to put away the wand in Hogwarts Legacy is frustrating many players at the moment. Having to watch your character bumble about the school with a wand dangling around is awkward, and unfortunately there is no manual way, no button you can press, to holster it inside your robes. Thankfully, there is a method to sheathe your wand in the game, though the tutorials don’t tell you how to do it.

How to holster wand in Hogwarts Legacy

All you need to do to put away your wand in Hogwarts Legacy is to stand still for several seconds.

Your character will automatically holster it after remaining motionless for a bit. We recommend standing on even ground when doing this, as opposed to a staircase, to make it easier for the game to register that your character is standing idle.

Hopefully, developer Avalanche Software will update the game with a patch that adds a dedicated button, like holding down a D-pad direction or assigning a hotkey, so you can sheathe your wand manually without having to wait around. It’s definitely not as bad as roaming around the castle with your wand out, in terms of breaking immersion, but standing around waiting for the idle animation gets a bit tiresome.
