There are several special horses in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These unique mounts are one-of-a-kind and typically have base stats higher than the wild horses you can tame throughout Hyrule. Given how valuable they are, these horses can be tough to get. Half the battle is just finding them, but you can find all their locations below.
Where are the special horses in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
There are six special horses in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that can be registered with the stable:
- Epona
- Ganon’s Horse
- Giant White Stallion
- Golden Horse
- Spot
- Zelda’s White Horse
Here are the locations and the requirements to obtain each:
Epona
- Stats:
- Speed: 4
- Stamina: 4
- Strength: 4
- Pull: –
- Temperament: Gentle
- Requirements: Unlock amiibo functionality.
- Location: Anywhere you can summon amiibo.
You can get Epona in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom by scanning either a Smash Bros. Link or Twilight Princess Link amiibo. She’s a great horse, but she does have some drawbacks. She can’t be upgraded by Malanya, and you can’t equip her with a towing harness.
Ganon’s Horse

- Temperament: Wild
- Requirements: Must have registered in Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Location: Any Stable
You can bring Ganon’s giant horse forward into Tears of the Kingdom if you’ve registered it in Breath of the Wild. Functionally, it’s the same as the Giant White Stallion.
Giant White Stallion
- Stats:
- Strength: 5
- Speed: 2
- Stamina: –
- Pull: –
- Temperament: Wild
- Requirements: High Stamina
- Location: Lake of the Horse God, Faron Grasslands
This giant horse is easy to find but quite hard to tame. You’ll need a lot of stamina to finally calm down the Giant White Stallion, but you can cheat by using items that increase your temporary stamina. Unfortunately, this beautiful beat isn’t very useful. It has high strength, which means you can bowl enemies over easily. However, it refuses to go any faster than a loping gallop. It also can’t use the towing harness, so all that strength goes to waste.
Golden Horse

- Stamina: 3
- Pull: 2
- Temperament: Gentle
- Requirements: Reach Lucky Clover Gazette
- Location: North of Snowfield Stable, Hebra
You’ll likely see this horse at Snowfield Stable during your first visit to Hebra. You won’t be able to claim this special horse at that point, but you’ll get the chance later. Once you start the Lucky Clover Gazette side quest, you can return to Snowfield Stable to find the Golden Horse has escaped. To find it, head north, avoid the powerful Gleeok, then go northeast. You’ll eventually run into a small herd of horses, and the Golden Horse will be hanging out with them.
Spot

- Stamina: 3
- Pull: 2
- Temperament: Wild
- Requirements: Finish “The Incomplete Stable” Quest
- Location: South of Lookout Landing
Lester, the proprietor of the mini-stable at Lookout Landing, has lost his horse, and he asks Link to find it as part of “Spotting Spot” quest. Fortunately, Spot hasn’t wandered too far. You should be able to spot him milling about south of Lookout Landing. Once you find him, you’ll need to tame him like any other horse. Do so and return Spot to Lester, and he’ll ask if you want to register him.
Zelda’s White Horse

- Temperament: Gentle
- Requirements: Must have registered in Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Location: Any Stable
If you’ve registered Zelda’s White Horse in Breath of the Wild, you can import it into Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a decent horse, but you can find better ones in the wild if you do a little searching.
