Lords of the Fallen Blacksmith Location Upgrade Weapons

Lords of the Fallen: Where to Find the Blacksmith and Upgrade Weapons

If you’re looking for a blacksmith in Lords of the Fallen, you will be waiting awhile. You’ll get material to upgrade your weapon early on in the game, but the NPC that can do so is hidden in a deep, dark dungeon that you won’t see until you’re several hours into the game. Additionally, making things more complicated, they’re in a technically missable location.

Where to find the blacksmith in Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen Blacksmith Location

To find the blacksmith in Lords of the Fallen, you’ll need to defeat Pieta, gain access to Skyrest Bridge, take out Delyth, and make your way into Pilgrim’s Perch. I recommend you use a Vestige Seed in the first Umbral Flowerbed you find after defeating Delyth, because the next section is a tough one, and you don’t want to have to run back here from the Vestige of Chabui repeatedly.

Even when you reach Pilgrim’s Perch, you won’t catch sight of the blacksmith for quite some time. Once you get through the first part of area, you’ll find the Vestige of Blind Agatha in the Bellroom. In this room, you’ll notice an elevator that doesn’t respond when you activate the nearby lever. Keep it in mind because it leads to the room you need to get to if you want to recruit the blacksmith.

You’ll need to continue past the Bellroom and into the tunnels of Pilgrim’s Perch Descent. When you come to the room with the pond, you’ll need to head to the left and continue onward. If you follow this path, you’ll eventually end up back outside, and you’ll need to descend several ladders.

Eventally you’ll need to enter the Umbral to proceed. After fighting your way across a large platform filled with Umbral eggs, you can climb a ladder and head right across a narrow plank. Then you’ll take another pair of ladders down. Nearby, there’ll be an Umbral Tumor. You need to Soulflay the three bodies to destroy it, and then you can finally enter the area where the blacksmith is being held.

After passing the tumor, you’ll find yourself in an area overlooking a pit that contains a prison cell. You should already be able to hear the tinking of a blacksmith’s hammer, but don’t rush down to rescue them yet. First, sprint over to the elevator and step on the plate in the middle to activate it. It’ll ascend back to the Bellroom and the Vestige of Blind Agatha. Now, if you die during the rescue attempt, you can take the shortcut right back down to try again.

Lords of the Fallen Blacksmith Room

Once you return to the area overlooking the prison cell, you should assess the situation. Below, there’s a Pureblade, three hounds, and a pilgrim or two. The Pureblade is a formidable foe, and they drop the Prison Cell Key you must use to rescue the blacksmith.

Given how much of a pain the Pureblade is, we recommend standing near the elevator and hitting the enemies below with whatever ranged attacks you have access to. Concentrate on the Pureblade, as the hounds, while quick, don’t have much HP.

Once the enemies have been defeated, grab the Prison Cell Key and head over to the cell to meet Gerlinde the Blacksmith. Exhaust her dialog, and she’ll ask for the key. Give it to her, and the next time you rest, she’ll move to Skyrest Bridge.

How to upgrade your weapons in Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen Upgrading Weapons

Once Gerlinde moves to Skyrest Bridge, you can find her near Stomund hammering away. After speaking with her briefly, she’ll task you with finding some crystal tablets dealing with runesmithing. Afterward, you can talk to her again to purchase items and finally upgrade your weapons.

Upgrading weapons in Lords of the Fallen requires pieces of Deralium:

  • Small Deralium Fragment: +1 to +3
  • Regular Duralium Nugget: +4 and +5
  • Large Deralium Shard: +6 to +9
  • Deralium Chunk: +10

These can be dropped from enemies or found as loot in the game world. Of course, the higher the tier of Deralium, the harder it is to find.
