Watch Mario Explore a Beautiful Unreal Engine 4 Open World

Unreal Engine 4 is a game engine with tremendous potential when put in the right hands. A recent Kite Trailer running on an Nvidia GTX Titan X showed one of the best-looking open worlds in history. Now, a graphically famished Mario—thanks, Wii U—takes to that world to see what next-gen graphics are like.

A programmer has posted a work of his that uses a high polygon Super Mario model he made within the Kite demo to deliver something extraordinary. For reference, the demo ran on an i7 4790k and GTX 980 Ti. Check it out below:

As good as it looks, Mario doesn't fit as well in this lifelike universe as he does in Nintendo's colorful worlds. Nonetheless, it's interesting to see him try something new.
