Seagate Is Bringing An SSD To Xbox One, Will Reduce Load and Boot Times

Although the current generation consoles have proven that they are capable when it comes to graphics processing, their hard drives have been a source of frustration for many consumers. Games like Fallout 4, Just Cause 3, and Dragon Age: Inquisition have tried the patience of many with 45+ second loading screens. It's an issue that isn't often talked about, but has serious implications on the enjoyability of a game.

In response to this, Seagate has announced that it will be entering the console industry. It is scheduled to debut a 512GB SSD for the Xbox One. Priced at $199, which is comparable to what's available in the PC market, it'll greatly speed up load and boot times.

As seen in the images above, the drive will come in an aluminum enclosure with green Xbox colored accents around the sides. The drive will include the necessary cable, and plugs directly into an external port on the Xbox One making installation nearly instantaneous.

You may have heard that buying an SSD for your PC is the biggest upgrade you can get. There's a lot of truth to that, and from what we can tell this will also apply to the Xbox One. We will soon be testing a review unit to see how it performs. For now, let us know what you think in the comments below.
