Silicon Knights v. Epic Games Jury Trial Is Over; Jury Sides With Epic

In a former life, I worked as a litigation paralegal for personal injury, so I have seen some doozies of cases. I've also been in trial far more often than I would have liked, even though most of those cases were actually entertaining. That said, I have never seen something as ridiculous as the Silicon Knights v. Epic Games ever go to trial.

Fortunately, the jury saw it as just as ridiculous and declared no liability on Epic Games' part, as tweeted by Mark Rein, vice-president and co-founder of Epic Games

The lawsuit started back in 2007 when Silicon Knights accused Epic Games of focusing on Gears of War instead of improving their Unreal Engine, which is what SK was using for Too Human. As a result, SK found Unreal Engine to be unusable and had to build their own engine. How dare Epic Games try to make their own money on one of their own games instead of improving a past product! The utter nerve of them!

Kudos to this jury. They have restored my faith in humanity just a teensy bit.
