Three Bethesda VR Games Are Arriving Before 2018, and Cost $30 to $60 Each

During the past two years, like many developers, Bethesda has been swooned by the potential of VR. It immediately invested in the technology with not one, or two, but three major products. And although all three are previous releases fitted with VR support, they could become the most substantial titles VR has ever seen.

Bethesda has confirmed release dates for the following:

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR (PlayStation VR) – November 17th
  • Doom VFR (HTC Vive, PlayStation VR) – December 1st
  • Fallout 4 VR (HTC Vive) – December 12th

All three games will require individual purchases. In other words, while some developers like the idea of releasing VR updates at no additional cost to consumers who already own the respective title, Bethesda isn’t taking that route.

The anticipated price point for Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR is $59.99, while Doom VFR will arrive at a more modest $29.99.

The platform exclusivity of Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR will likely fade in time, but will remain for at least a few months. It’s notoriously difficult to port code between VR platforms, leading to slow multiplatform transitions.

We’ve had hands-on time with Skyrim VR, and have been impressed by its implementation. Stay tuned for reviews on all three products.
