Overwatch League’s xQc Released From Dallas Fuel Following Suspension

Overwatch League player xQc has been released from Dallas Fuel, with the player’s second suspension leading to the team dropping him from the squad. This move follows a string of controversial behavior from the pro Overwatch player, including posting “racially derogatory emotes” in Twitch chat and using a homophobic slur against an opponent.

Dallas Fuel has announced that the team and xQc, real name Félix Lengyel, have “mutually agreed” to part ways, after the tank player was issued a four-match ban and a fine by OWL. His contract was originally set to expire after the first season of the Overwatch League had concluded, though Fuel has decided to conclude their partnership early.

“There are few players out there who have achieved as much success in as short a time as Félix has in competitive Overwatch. Ultimately, it was in the best interest of our organization and Félix to part ways before the expiration of his contract,” said Dallas Fuel owner Mike Rufail. “No one wants to see Félix succeed more than we do, and we believe he has a bright future ahead of him. I want to thank him for his time and the passion he brought to the Dallas Fuel.”

Rufail also stated that the decision to release xQc was to allow the team to make room for additional signings, along with granting the player the ability to “pursue other opportunities this season and on stream.”

xQc hasn’t responded to the announcement, though retweeted a tweet expressing how he can now “meme and s*** talk as much as he wants, he’s free now.”

The streamer was one of four players recently punished by the Overwatch League, in a widespread crackdown against toxic behavior among the competition’s competitors. Along with his suspension, xQc also faced a steep fine of $4,000, the most severe punishment distributed to an Overwatch League player thus far.
