Fans of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey can test their skills in an all-new Ubisoft VR escape room. Beyond Medusa’s Gate has launched in over 100 United States and Europe-based entertainment centers. This new multiplayer VR experience will require teams of players to think creatively in order to escape.
Beyond Medusa’s Gate recreates the Ancient Greek setting of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but provides an entirely unique adventure. Trapped in an Aegean coastal cave, teams have only 60 minutes to find their way out of the cave to where the legendary ship of the Argonauts is docked.
This escape room has an added level of VR immersion to the experience. Before beginning the adventure, players get to choose their custom avatars from six different characters. They can further customize the avatars with Ancient Greek accessories, adding a bit of extra fun to the experience.
Teams must consist of two or four players. True to escape room fashion, the players must use teamwork, creative thinking, and precise timing to solve puzzles so clever they’d make Professor Layton proud. The complex riddles rely on clear communication between players as they interact with ancient objects to make their escape before the clock runs down and they’re trapped forever.
Beyond Medusa’s Gate isn’t Ubisoft’s first foray into the VR escape room world. Following the tale of Assassin’s Creed Origins, the VR experience Escape the Lost Pyramid is the older sibling of Beyond Medusa’s Gate. The freedom of VR allows for more creative environments and dangerous puzzles than reality could provide, increasing the thrill of the game.
