The Overwatch Switch release date has been leaked by Amazon. Blizzard Entertainment fans have long been hoping to get their hands on Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch, and now it seems like it’s all but certain that we’ll be able to play their premier first-person shooter on Nintendo’s hybrid handheld console. What’s more, we won’t have to be waiting too long for it, as it’s going to be coming out in October.
Overwatch Switch release date | The Amazon leak
This whole hubbub kicked off not too long ago with a leak over on Amazon as noted by reputable video game tweeter @Wario64. A Nintendo Switch case featuring Overwatch branding and colors was very briefly listed on one of the world’s largest digital retailers before the listing was pulled.

Thankfully, @Wario64 was fast enough to get his hands on some screenshots of it. Take a look!

The retail connection
As if the Nintendo Switch case were not enough of a clue, we then got our hands on some even juicier information. Kotaku highlighted a thread on ResetEra which showed a printed list of upcoming games to what appears to be a French retailer. Among them was a listing for Blizzard’s first-person shooter along with the Overwatch Switch release date for Europe.
According to the leak (and Kotaku’s subsequent research), it seems very likely that we’re going to be able to buy this game on the Overwatch Switch release date of October 18, 2019, in Europe. However, Kotaku feels that American players will be able to get it a few days earlier on October 15, 2019.
Presuming that this leak is true (and the evidence is looking pretty good, mind), we’ll be able to get our hands on Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch in a little over a month. The only thing that remains to be seen is exactly when we’ll get this announcement. Considering that there is going to be a Nintendo Direct today, I think the odds for an announcement on that stream seem likely.
