World of Warcraft Subscribers Drop To 7.7 Million

It's no secret that World of Warcraft's subscriber numbers have been slipping for quite some time. Activision Blizzard has just announced that the current user base is at 7.7 million, which is down from last quarter's 8.3 million.

Even still, Blizzard must be commended for creating an experience that has managed to last this long. Don't forget, the game launched back in 2004, and still has a whopping 7.7 million subscribers. That's no fall feat, my friends.

With upcoming MMOs like The Elder Scrolls Online and WildStar set to launch in the near future, it will be interesting to see how these new kids on the block affect WoW's user base. Do you think Blizzard's online role-playing game has run its course, or doesn't it still have plenty of life left in it? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
