Pokémon Origins Lends Red And Blue Nostalgia To Upcoming X & Y Release

Back in 1998, when Pokémon Red and Blue debuted on Game Boy, there was always a distinct difference between the world of Pokémon we knew in the game and the world of Pokémon that came to life in the popular TV cartoon, but Pokémon Origins will bring that game world to life ahead of Pokémon X & Y's release.

How many times did I just type Pokémon?

Don't mistake my exhaustion as anything less than enthusiasm though. Ash and his journey throughout the pantheon of pocketable-monsters has been compelling and will continue in the new Kalos region, but four Red and Blue themed episodes are being produced to recount the story we played through on the gray brick.

Pokémon Origins will be widely available for viewing on Pokémon TV when hero Red meets his rival, Team Rocket, and the gym leaders that set the stage for Red and Blue's road to the Elite Four. Even better, you can watch these episodes after they begin airing November 15th on your iOS or Android device with the Pokémon TV mobile app.

Check out our hands-on preview of Pokémon X & Y from PAX Prime while you wait for more on mega evolutions or the new legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal.
