Google Stadia 1440p support

Stadia Connect stream shows 16 games, including some exclusives, that are coming to the platform soon

Today’s Stadia Connect brought good news for users of the service. Stadia’s library has remained relatively lean since its release last year. However, 16 more games are coming to Stadia, which should round out its offerings a bit.

Google also revealed a few new Stadia partnerships. Harmonix, Supermassive Games, and Uppercut Games will be producing Stadia-exclusive content, though no specific titles have been announced yet.

The games featured in today’s Stadia Connect are:

  • Dead by Daylight (September 2020)
  • Hello Neighbor (September 20, 2020)
  • Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek (Holiday 2020)
  • Hitman (September 1, 2020)
  • Hitman 2 (September 1, 2020)
  • Hitman 3 (January 2021)
  • NBA 2K21 (Fall 2020)
  • One Hand Clapping (First on Stadia Early Access, Available Now)
  • Orcs Must Die! 3 (Only on Stadia, Out Now)
  • Outcasters (Only on Stadia)
  • Outriders (Holiday 2020)
  • PGA Tour 2K21 (August 21, 2020)
  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Season 8 (July 30)
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (Fall 2020)
  • Serious Sam 4 (August 2020)
  • Super Bomberman R Online (First on Stadia, Fall 2020)
  • WWE 2K Battlegrounds (September 18, 2020)

You’ll notice that all of these games are scheduled to come out in the next six months. This is a far cry from the position Stadia was in earlier this year when the community was in the dark about what games (if any) were coming out in the future.

The highly-touted “Click To Play” feature also launched today. Pre-launch, we heard a lot about this function that would let players start a game alongside their favorite streamer by clicking a link. However, it still doesn’t function as originally described. These links simply launch a game in a new window if you own it, or take you to the store page if you don’t. As far as I’ve seen, there’s no ability to launch a game and pick it up in the same place as a streamer is playing in, which was supposed to be one of Stadia’s killer app features.

It’s great Google is still supporting Stadia, as the service surely isn’t as popular as was hoped. Maybe someday we’ll see it break out of its slump and bring cloud gaming into the mainstream.
