Xbox 360 Games You Missed in 2013
-
Anarchy Reigns
[Review] - Released January 8th, 2013
rn
rnAnarchy Reigns originally debuted in Japan on July 5th, 2012 but this rather niche brawler title finally landed in America one year ago, we’ll assume you’ve missed one of the wildest and most original games to release in 2013 and lead off our Xbox 360 list with Rin Rin. -
Battleblock Theater
[Review] - Released April 3rd, 2013
rn
rnThe Behemoth quickly defined the downloadable marketplace with their releases on the Xbox 360, most notably Castle Crashers. Still their seventh-generation swan song combines 2D platforming, a favored genre among indies, and a ton of options for user-generated content and head-to-head multiplayer. If you’ve still got your Xbox 360 lying around, don’t wait to download this. -
Crysis 3
[Review] - Released February 19th, 2013
rn
rnCrysis 3’s overgrown vision of New York, where a massive dome has encouraged aliens, mercenaries, and more to take cover, also gives players the impetus to go all Rambo with a high-tech bow and arrow set. Whether you were playing on a high-end PC or an Xbox 360 console, Crysis 3 has a satisfying campaign with jaw-dropping visuals and deep multiplayer modes. Just hope you can find a few friends to hop online with you as Xbox Live tends to hive-mind to the next big thing in multiplayer gaming. The lobbies in Crysis 3 might be a little light these days. -
Dragon\'s Dogma: Dark Arisen
[Review] - Released April 23rd, 2013 rn rnPlayStation gamers have already gotten their chance to try out one of 2012’s best RPGs, made better by the Dark Arisen expansion, for free via PlayStation Plus, and we’re hoping that Capcom allows Microsoft to share the wealth of fantasy action and adventure via Xbox Live subscribers in a Games for Gold promotion soon. Dark Arisen adds even more content to the sleeper hit from 2012 and honestly if you haven’t played it yet, now you have no excuse. GameRevolution says so. -
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
[Review] - Released May 1st, 2013 rn rnFar Cry 3’s standalone expansion pack takes the chain of islands you explore in the main game as confused vacationer Jason and lays a thick layer of neon goo over everything and everyone. Now you take control of Rex, a cyborg on a mission against evil scientists, bad 80s action cliches, and a ton of giant lizards. There should be no doubt why we gave this one of our coveted Game of the Year awards. -
Remember Me
[Review] - Released June 4th, 2013
rn
rnWhile Dontnod Entertainment’s first effort proves that the team has the experience necessary to craft a AAA game, it also flew way under the radar. Most gamers seemed focused on the next-gen war after getting burned by me-too releases like Gears of War: Judgment, while Remember Me actually presents an interesting new license and strong female hero. Hand-to-hand combat and memory-remixing puzzles also kept the campaign heated and varied throughout. This is a great game to get at a discount in the new year. -
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
[Review] - Released August 20th, 2013
rn
rnUbisoft’s renewal on Sam Fisher’s exploits as the shadowy spy that knows no jurisdiction may have been missing the iconic voice of Michael Ironside, but it did a great job at modernizing the gameplay and level design of the now classic stealth franchise. Blacklist presented a US-spy-agency-budget-sized wealth of replay ability and tons of co-op multiplayer to boot. Multiplayer modes also returned players to the classic Spies vs. Mercs modes. We had high-praise for the title earlier this year, and so did community member Master_Craig. -
The Bureau: SCOM Declassified
[2K Marin Closing] - Released August 20th, 2013
rn
rn2K’s long-in-development XCOM shooter finally released in 2013 and didn’t exactly make the splash its developers had hoped for. With a lot of different ideas going into the project and the much-lauded XCOM: Enemy Unknown reboot proving the genre-swap unnecessary to begin with, gamers were forgiven to ignoring this in their next-gen hype. If you’ve gone without a shiny new Xbox One, you should smash some extraterrestrial skulls and check out the XCOM battlefield from another perspective without breaking the bank. -
The Cave
[Review] - Released January 22nd, 2013
rn
rnDouble Fine’s adventure game featuring hapless explorers trapped in a puzzling, twisted cave, landed very early in 2013, perhaps too early for anyone still stuck in a holiday-binge digestive hibernation state. The Cave features a witty narrative and intelligent gameplay, plus that Double Fine charm fans have come to know and love. Try this while you’re waiting for Broken Age to debut. -
Xbox 360 Games You Missed in 2013 #10
[Review] - Released October 15th, 2013
rn
rnOnly the first episode of Telltale’s Fables-inspired series released in 2013, but it presents an alternative to The Walking Dead Season 2 that sets itself apart in tone and theme, meaning fans can enjoy both without over saturating their narratively-driven episodic experiences. The first episode is also free now on many popular downloadable platforms, like Xbox Live Arcade, so don’t wait any longer than you already have to get hooked. -
