Next MercurySteam Game Is Not Castlevania, And Not For The Wii U

Dave Cox, head of Konami's UK studio, has said that MercurySteam's new game will be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, but on Wii U.

In addition, this new game will be "completely different" from the studio's Castlevania games. Cox did say this past summer that the studio would not continue the Lords of Shadow series after Lords of Shadow 2.

"We've told Japan headquarters that this is the last one for us," Cox said. "There's nothing worse than when somebody's got something to say, and when they've said it, they just keep talking.

"We've got a beginning and end, and it's a cool ending and a cool story. Once we've done that, it's time to say to somebody else 'now it's your turn.'"

Now that they are finished with Lords of Shadow (which will release on last-gen consoles), they're definitely ready to move on to the new generation. Unfortunately, they are not counting the Wii U in the mix. The Wii U didn't get any of the Lords of Shadow games either, so Nintendo's console doesn't seem to be on MercurySteam's radar at all.
