Atlus Reveals Persona 5’s Premise, “More Thematically Approachable” Than Persona 4

Atlus' Katsura Hashino recently shared a few fresh new details on the highly anticipated fifth entry in the Persona series.

Speaking about the game's premise in a recent interview, Hashino explained, "I feel that in today’s world there’s no shortage of people that are bored and discontent with their lives. They’re at a dead end, chained down to a world which they resent being a part [of]. Persona 5, in that sense is a game about freedom, the kind that these sorts of people haven’t had living in the real world."

With regard to how Persona 5 will compare to prior entries in the series, he went on to assure fans that they'll feel "right at home" with this new title. "People that have played Persona 3 and 4 should feel right at home with Persona 5 as well. I really want them to be at ease when they play this new entry."

In addition, Atlus is apparently looking to potentially expand its audience by making the game more approachable. "Still, I’d like to make it a little more thematically approachable than what we’ve previously attempted with our other games."
