Final Fantasy Meets Guitar Hero in New 3DS Game

Rhythm games are dead. They haven't been exciting for at least a couple years now. Until Square Enix used a Life spell on the genre and mixed it in with Final Fantasy for a new breed of game.

The first information on Final Fantasy Theatrhythm for 3DS has been revealed. The game offers classic 4-person party, Final Fantasy-style battle encounters, but instead of just mashing away at the X button to spam-attack, you'll have to time button presses carefully, à la rhythm games, to time your attacks.

A formula for fresh fantasy.

The music featured are fan-favorite Final Fantasy songs, such as "The Sunleth Waterscape" from FFXIII and "One Winged Angel" from FFVII.

The game is being developed by the team behind the 2006 Nintendo DS title, Electroplankton.

Finally, a Final Fantasy game that sounds interesting. Although, at this point I'll take anything that doesn't use a Command Synergy Battle system.
