Sony Shutting Down PSN Access on PSP in Four Regions

The still-popular PlayStation Portable will be losing connectivity to the PlayStation Network in four specific regions worldwide, says Sony as reported by IGN.

While PSPs in North America won't be restricted yet, PSP owners in Europe, Oceania, Asia, and select regions in Africa will have their handheld's PSN access dropped in just several days on September 15. Sony is currently evaluating market trends to determine when all PSN Access will be dropped by all PSPs.

The only workaround on the PSP for those without PSN access is to visit the Sony Entertainment Network Online Store to purchase content and redownload purchases, which will likely be a hassle but the least option exists. Considering the lukewarm success of the Vita thus far, PSN support on PSP may see delays in North America.
