Xbox Games With Gold and PS Plus Predictions for September 2018

Though September usually begins the bevy of game launches that usually accompany the end of the year, there are still plenty of PS Plus and Games with Gold titles to pick up. Whether it be re-releases or games looking for a wider audience, September seems like the perfect month to capture consumer interest before the cold seasons freeze us over. The following is a list of games with potential to be featured in either service in September.

August Games with Gold and PS Plus Predictions – The Big Ones

Though the Resident Evil 6 re-release for PS4 and Xbox One may seem more fitting for October, don’t be surprised if publisher Capcom offers up this game next month instead. Seeing as how major titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Soulcalibur 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield 5 are all due out in October, the house of horror may opt to let the sixth iteration of their popular series take the reins in September so it won’t be drowned out by other scary games in the spookiest month of the year. Aside from the seasonality, the aforementioned publisher’s attempts to stir up buzz for the upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake could also help Resident Evil 6 earn the premier spot in either service.

This doesn’t rule out the base version of Resident Evil 7 being featured in next month’s offerings. Seeing as how this game was much better received by critics and fans than Resident Evil 6, Capcom may choose to include it in either service (and attempt to make some money through its DLC ). The Gold Edition of the title seems pretty unlikely, as the publisher is undoubtedly still making money off it despite it releasing late last year.

LA Noire is another likely contender. With Rockstar Games’ launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 just around the corner, it makes sense for the developer to offer their latest re-release for PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold members to enjoy. It’s frequently discounted on Deals With Gold, which aids in the likeliness for the game to be featured in either service. Don’t expect a Grand Theft Auto game to be offered, as Rockstar is still making far too much money on the latest iteration in the series for it to consider that.

August Games with Gold and PS Plus Predictions – The Indies

It wouldn’t be too much of a shock to see SMAC Games’ Tokyo 42 be featured in PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold’s free offerings next month. In case you missed it when it launched in May last year, this isometric shooter features an extremely imaginative and colorful world that channels the charm of games like Hohokum in its exterior, even though its narrative is far more serious. Players essentially have to escape from waves of enemies as the authorities try to take you down for a murder you didn’t commit. It’s a game that feels similar to titles that each service has offered in the past, including Terraria, Gone Home, and Transistor. September would be the perfect time for more people to pick up and play the game before the fall onslaught begins.

Back to Bed is another game that’s likely to make the list, but only on PS Plus, as it’s only available on PlayStation, PC, and mobile platforms. It’s a game described by its developers as “an artistic 3D puzzle game with a surreal twist.” Channeling Salvador Dali in its artistic levels, players must guide a somnambulist back to bed while navigating around puzzles and environmental dangers. Seeing as how the title is available on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita, it’s plausible that the game will be featured on the service sometime from now until next year. It makes sense to do it now, especially considering how frequently the title is featured on flash sales and weekly offerings.
