Wolfenstein Youngblood teaser

Wolfenstein Youngblood teaser suggests new details coming soon

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus released in 2017, and while it’ll be a long time before we see the proper Wolfenstein III, you may remember that a co-op spin-off/sequel called Wolfenstein Youngblood is on its way. Youngblood was announced at Bethesda’s E3 conference a year ago, but we haven’t heard anything about the game since then. Now a short Wolfenstein Youngblood teaser has popped up on Twitter, which suggests that Bethesda are preparing to release more details about the game at last.

The very short animated teaser appeared on the official Wolfenstein Twitter feed earlier today. The brief gif shows a close-up picture of Wolfenstein series star BJ Blazkowicz, over which a red line and the words “location unknown” pop in to frame. The interlaced scan lines and the video feedback suggest this is part of a VHS recording, which would match the game’s 1980s setting. It also could possibly be the first part of a much longer trailer, perhaps one done in an 80s style. You can see the teaser below.

Considering the game was announced a year ago, it’s surprising how little we know about Wolfenstein Youngblood, especially as it has a release date set for later this year. The only reason we know for sure that the teaser is for this game, rather than Wolfenstein III or VR title Wolfenstein Cyberpilot, is that the story of Youngblood is about BJ’s twin daughters searching for their father in Vichy, France. The game is set in the 1980s, two decades after Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and it’ll be the first game in the series since Bethesda took over the license to have multiplayer.

The game will be a single-player and co-op FPS, with players taking on the roles of Jess or Soph Blazkowicz, but that’s all we know so far. The first we’d heard of Youngblood in a year was yesterday’s reveal that the game was coming to Steam. If this teaser is any indication, however, we may know a lot more very soon.
