Destiny 2 Wavesplitter

Destiny 2 Wavesplitter | How long will I be able to use the Destiny 2 Wavesplitter?

Due to a partnership with Sony, Destiny 2 players that are playing on the PlayStation 4 are supposed to have exclusive access to the exotic Wavesplitter weapon. However, that hasn’t been the case, since the traveling in-game merchant Xur accidentally gave players access to the Wavesplitter across all platforms. Last night, players discovered that if they traded in their Fated Engrams to Xur, there was a chance that he would reward them with the exotic Wavesplitter on any gaming platform. The Destiny 2 Wavesplitter is only supposed to be available on the PlayStation 4 right now, then go live on the Xbox One and PC in September later this year. Bungie has since fixed the bug that causes Xur to hand out the Wavesplitter to anyone, but if you were able to get a Wavesplitter and are playing on Xbox One and PC, you still use it, but not for very long.

Bungie acknowledged the bug yesterday on a community forum, saying the team is “currently working on a fix.” However, the studio also added that “[in] the meantime, Xbox and PC players who acquired the weapon will be able to use it.” So until the fix goes live, Xbox One and PC players will still be able to use the coveted Wavesplitter. Once the fix goes live, they will still have the weapon, it will just be locked in their inventory until September when it is made available to all platforms. Thankfully, Bungie is not removing the item, so players won’t lose the Fated Engrams that they invested while trying to get the Wavesplitter.

It is unclear how long the fix will take to go live in the game, but we wouldn’t imagine it’ll be too long, especially since the Destiny 2 Wavesplitter is supposed to be a console exclusive item. So, enjoy it while you can! Destiny 2 just received a 1.34 update that brought Arc changes, weapon nerfs, and competitive crucible fixes, you can read the full list of patch notes here.
