The Evil Within and Rage Did Well Enough to Justify Sequels, Says Bethesda

Pete Hines, Bethesda Softworks' Vice President of PR and Marketing, shared that both The Evil Within and Rage made enough in money to justify a sequel, in an interview with Finder:

Finder: Did The Evil Within sell enough to warrant a sequel?

Hines: (Without hesitation) Yes!

Finder: What about Rage?

Hines: I think so.

For clarity, Hines made sure not to reveal whether either Rage 2 or The Evil Within 2 is in the pipeline at id Software and Tango Gameworks, respectively, as that would get him "in trouble." But he wanted to emphasize that, yes, "both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequel."

According to VGChartz, Rage has sold a combined total of 2.32 million copies to date on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, while The Evil Within has sold a combined total of 4.11 million copies on PS4, X1, PS3, X360, and PC. Both games received satisfactory scores, with Rage receiving a 79-81 Metacritic score and The Evil Within garnering a 68-79 Metacritic score, so they have a good foundation but have room to grow.
