Australia Scared of Zombies, Bans House of the Dead

SEGA Australia has confirmed that House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut has been refused a classification in Australia.







The PS3 game was supposed to launch on October 27th with Playstation Move support, but the Australian Classification Board gave the game a 'Refused Classification' rating.

SEGA responded to the middle finger from the board:

SEGA Australia are determined to appeal the decision immediately and hope to have the classification overturned without making any changes or amends to the final game.

Darren MacBeth, managing director of SEGA Australia, continued:

There are far worse titles currently available in the marketplace which involve more than shooting down mutants in humorous circumstances. We will do everything we can to prove that House of the Dead: Overkill is worthy of an MA15+ rating in Australia.

It is also interesting to note that the original Wii game was classified as MA15+ in December 2008, so the board seems to believe the two new levels make the game too dangerous for the Australian public. In other news, the board recently rated films such as I Scored a Soccer Mom! Vol 7 and 8th Street Latinas Vol 7, along with films that have far more NSFW titles.

Luckily, the Attorneys General have reached an in-principle agreement to introduce an R18+ category for videogames in the country, but they said it won't be more lenient than the current one.
