Bethesda Responds to Fallout 4 Criticisms

Plenty of RPG fans are excited about the release of Fallout 4 later this year, but the announcement at E3 wasn't met with unanimous praise. In fact, there's been a surprising amount of criticism from fans, a topic addressed in a recent interview with Bethesda President of PR and Marketing Pete Hines.

Speaking to Metro, he talked about the fact that some fans were disappointed with the visuals and general art direction.

"Definitely doesn’t upset us," he said. "Very little surprises me after 16 years in this industry. [laughs] Generally speaking… I think we’re an industry, we’re a form of entertainment. As with most forms of entertainment you never get 100 per cent agreement on anything."

Hines also addressed concerns about Fallout 4's familiarity, and how it seems like a subtle transition from Bethesda's last entry in the series.

"I mean, certainly it ought to look and feel familiar," he explained. "If you played Fallout 3 you ought to be able to see things that are recognizable or similar or whatever. Because we didn’t make a completely different game. But at the same time, when you’re playing it it’s a mix of familiar and different. There are things that are the same and there are things that are very different."

He went on to say that showcasing the variety is tough in an E3 demonstration. Hands-on time with the game will truly show what kind of strides Bethesda has made in the development of Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 comes out on November 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
