Sony Delayed PlayStation VR to October 2016 Due to Consumer Demand

Masayasu Ito, Sony Computer Entertainment's Executive Vice President, has explained that the main reason for the delay of PlayStation VR from the first half of 2016 to October 2016 is high consumer demand, according to a statement with Nikkei as translated by GI.biz

During the time when PSVR was expected to release in the first half of 2016, Sony's sales team came back with "better than expected projections" for the headset, more than they anticipated and more than the supply they would have. So the company decided to push the global launch to October 2016, right before the holiday season this year.

Ito also described the PlayStation VR headset as having "internal parts [that] are similar to those of a PC," making it possible for PSVR to have functionality on PC, though the company is "focused on games" at this point in time.

PSVR will launch at at $399, though it will likely cost 100 dollars more than that, and is currently slated to have more than 80 titles at launch, with notable mentions to Rez Infinite, Allison Road, and Thumper.
