The Elder Scrolls VI Is Not In Development, Confirms Pete Hines

Excited to play a new The Elder Scrolls game on current generation hardware? Not so fast.

In response to a Twitter post confirming sequels for The Evil Within and Rage, VP of PR at Bethesda Pete Hines took a moment to confirm that a new The Elder Scrolls game is not currently in development. He shared:

fyi, the elder scrolls vi isn't in development. we simply said we would make it eventually. don't want people to be misled

After another user stated that he's probably kidding, Hines re-iterated himself twice, stating:

no, it just means nobody is working on it. no. It isn't in development.

Given that Fallout 4 released last year, this means that it will be a very long time before we see an RPG from Bethesda again.

Bethesda is currently busy delivering routine updates for its MMO The Elder Scrolls Online, which has been a remarkably profitable venture for the company. In addition, it is about to release Dishonored 2 and is in the final months of development for 2017's Prey and Quake Champions releases. No games have been confirmed beyond the schedule of these titles.
