BioWare Is Tackling Mass Effect: Andromeda’s Animations And Slow Travel In This Week’s Update

As I described in my review, Mass Effect: Andromeda is probably better than it's been given credit for. However, that's not to say that it's bad. It has plenty of faults, some more concerning than others.

In an effort to improve Mass Effect: Andromeda and reach its full potential, its first major patch is significant, impactful, and just the sort of thing fans were hoping for.

In addition to tackling notable bugs, this week's update v1.05 will include the following adjustments:

  • Allowing you to skip ahead when traveling between planets in the galaxy map
  • Increasing the inventory limits
  • Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters
  • Decreasing the cost of remnant decryption keys and making them more accessible at merchants
  • Improving localized voice over lip sync
  • Fixing Ryder’s movements when running in a zig zag pattern
  • Improving matchmaking and latency in multiplayer

The change to intergalactic travel is a huge deal for a lot of players who have been put-off by the long loading times when moving between plants and star systems. However, you could argue that the improvements to the "appearance of eyes" and "voice over lip sync" are even more substantial given how much flak the game was hit by for its animations.

More patches are planned for the future. They will address the following:

  • More options and variety in the character creator
  • Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters
  • Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations
  • Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder
  • Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams
