Zynga Attempted To Acquire Nimblebit Before Ripping It Off

Daniel reported earlier that Zynga had essentially copied Nimblebit by cloning their successful iPhone game Tiny Towers with Dream Heights for iOS. This prompted Nimblebit to send a mock fan letter praising Zynga for imitating them. This is, of course, the most back-handed sincerest form of flattery.

It must be known, however, that Zynga attempted to acquire Nimblebit at an undisclosed time, if we are to believe the above tweet from Nimblebit's Ian Marsh. Taken at face value, this means that Zynga attempted to buy out Nimblebit first, likely eyeing Twin Tiny Towers, but when they were denied, they retaliated by blatantly copying Twin Towers instead.

This isn't the first time a "clone threat" has occurred on the iPhone, and unfortunately, it won't be the last.
