Friday the 13th: The Game Won’t Have Console Pre-Orders, but Release Is Unaffected

When the announcement of a release date finally came for Gun Media's Friday the 13th: The Game, interested console players went straight to the PlayStation or Xbox online stores only to find that the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game was nowhere to be found.

Turns out, it wasn't lurking in the shadows either. Just today, Gun Media confirmed, through the game's official Twitter account that there won't be pre-orders for PS4 or Xbox One.

But before you go wildly speculating about turmoil or a possible delay, this move actually saved the game from being delayed, according to Gun Media head Wes Keltner. Keltner Tweeted "Sony/MS needed us to wait an extra month to setup for pre-order. We didn't think it was fair to wait another month."

People who pre-ordered Friday the 13th: The Game via Kickstarter or the game's Backerkit will still see their orders fullfilled, even on the console versions, but those codes will not arrive early, meaning there will be no option to pre-load the game. However, Gun Media also confirmed that the full file size for Friday the 13th: The Game is 3.5 gbs, so the download should finish very quickly after receiving the code.

Meanwhile, the game is available to pre-order on PC via Steam, where there presumably will be the option to preload. Regardless, the game will still release next Friday, May 26th on all platforms.
