Let’s Fish! Hooked On: Hands-Off, Fact-Free Preview

Let's Fish: Hooked On will soon be coming to the PlayStation Vita. This game was called Fish On in Japan, and as the official Japanese resident at Game Revolution, I'm used to covering games that most people don't know much about or can't understand. No worries, I'm back to give you a preview of Let's Fish, using my brilliant intuition and translating prowess.

I'll begin by examining some screenshots here.

Relax, that language doesn't scare me. I can read everything on the screen and I'll tell you what I know:

-There is a World Tour mode. Or if there isn't, at some point the screen does say "World Tour" on it.

-At least one female character is available.

-There is a schedule and a class ranking, and saveable info about the player.

-You can save data at certain junctures.

-There are multiple menus, though they all fall under the ruthless domination of the "Main" one.

-Items are not merely for collection, they can be selected, too.

The character in the picture is named Kano. She begins as an Amateur, and sources indicate that a rank of 50 is not enough to push her above that level. She likes to wear a short tie with a hole in it.

A lot of games these days are not locks for physical release, so some might be wondering whether this game will have a physical version. Here's what I know about that: nothing.

The above screenshot confirms that the game is loaded with "hooking action" and gives players a self esteem gauge on the right side. Catching fish makes you feel good and raises the image to "high" self-esteem, but missing fish lowers your self esteem, just the way it drops when you miss everything else in life, which you do, because you're worthless and stupid, Jason.

Hooking Action, the way I am familiar with it, punishable by having to spend upwards of two minutes alone in a box. It has been brought to my attention by my, um, friend, that another kind of hooking is actually illegal in most states. Here are images of both kinds:

^ This image is not from Let's Fish.

^ This one probably is.

We'll conclude this preview with the Japanese box art:

She probably has that band-aid on her knee because she was hooked.
