Developer Dave Rushton Fined And Imprisoned For Failing To Pay His Employees

What a douchebag.

The president and founder of developer Sensory Sweep Studios, which created the Nintendo DS port for Need for Speed: Most Wanted as well as the Xbox Live Arcade version of Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, has been sentenced for failing to pay more than 100 of his employees for more than 100 days, as revealed by the Associated Press. He faces 12 months in prison and a fine of $1.2 million.

Back in early 2009, instead of merely laying off employees, the developer thought that they could get away with not paying its employees upwards of $2 million. Some employees also found that the investments in their 401(k) plan had been stolen by the company.

That's when the US Department of Labor stepped in and put a stop to all of the company's upcoming titles including My English Coach for Ubisoft and The Bigs for 2K Games.

Rushton has already been imprisoned in 2010 for failing to file taxes as well as "engaging in a pattern of unlawful activity", adding a 72-month probation and 200 hours of community service to the sentence.
