Rumor: Xbox 720 To Feature New Kinect, No Used Games, Blu-Ray

If word on the street proves to be true, you're going to need a solid internet connection if you want to use Microsoft's upcoming console. Apparently—according to a report from EDGE—the new Xbox will require a constant internet connection, which will aid in the device's ability to prevent you from playing used games.

Inside sources told the outlet that while the system will be a predominantly online and digital-focused device, you'll still be able to pick up boxed games at retail. The games will be on 50GB-capacity Blu-ray discs and allegedly come with an activation code that will tie the disc to your system.

A new version of Kinect will be released alongside the device, and (unsurprisingly) an updated version of Xbox Live will be ready to go at launch. As far as internal specs go, the outlet's source confirmed that previous reports of an AMD eight-core x64 1.6GHz CPU, a D3D11.x 800MHz graphics solution, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM are totally accurate.

Finally, there's no word on exactly how big the console's hard drive will be, but there's a good chance it will be the largest we've seen yet in an attempt to embrace a digital-only future.

What do you think of these rumors? Is it all a bunch of hogwash, or could you see this turning out to be true? Let us know in the comments below.
