New Splinter Cell Game

Jade Raymond Reveals New Splinter Cell Game Was in the Works at Ubisoft

It’s been over five years since the last game in the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series of stealth games, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, released in 2013. Presumably there have been attempts to bring the series back within Ubisoft, but currently there is no new Splinter Cell game, or at least not one that’s been announced. However, according to producer Jade Raymond in a recent interview, there actually was a plan in place to create a new game in the franchise, although it may have been canceled.

If you don’t know, Jade Raymond is the producer of the first two Assassin’s Creed games, and is a co-creator of that series. She was also the producer on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and served as executive producer on the last Splinter Cell game Blacklist. She revealed the information about a new game in the series in a video interview with GameReactor, which was spotted by Wccftech.

When asked about a possible new Splinter Cell game, or at least her thoughts on what a new game could be like, Raymond replied “you know what? There’s a design that we actually had and we worked on that we wanted to make, but since I’m not at Ubisoft any more I can’t talk about it.” This is the first time we’ve had information on a Splinter Cell game after Blacklist, and it seems the same team (led by Raymond) was working on another game at the time she left in 2014. Whether that’s been canceled or repurposed in some way, we just don’t know.

Of course, Splinter Cell‘s protagonist Sam Fisher was in a game this year, in a crossover with Ghost Recon Wildlands. This was particularly notable because it brought back Fisher’s original voice actor Michael Ironside, who had been replaced in Blacklist, much to fans’ dismay. Presumably if and when another Splinter Cell was announced Ironside would continue on in the role.
