Rumor: Games/Apps On Next Xbox Will Be Suspended If Connection Is Lost

A new report suggests that should one's online connection get interrupted while using the next Xbox, whatever game or application is running will be suspended.

We've heard rumblings in the past about Microsoft's still unannounced console requiring gamers to always be online, and now a source close to Kotaku has spelled out one of the potential adverse effects. "Unless something has changed recently, Durango consumer units must have an active internet connection to be used," the source explained.

"If there isn't a connection, no games or apps can be started. If the connection is interrupted then after a period of time–currently three minutes, if I remember correctly–the game/app is suspended and the network troubleshooter started."

With so much positive momentum behind the PlayStation 4 right now and the constant stream of negative reports regarding Microsoft's new box, things aren't looking too good for the Big M. Hopefully they'll blow us away with a console reveal very soon that lays all our fears to rest.

In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts on the always-online requirement in the comments below.
