Getting the diamond on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

If you don't pump your arms to go faster (or paddle your boat), your car/boat goes slow enough to steer and get all of the coins, Mickeys, gems, treasures, etc. Only pump arms to get uphill and found everything in both attractions.
