The 70mai A810 Lite Dash Cam is a more affordable 4K option that still squeezes in many of the features I look for. There is 4K front recording, a 1080p rear camera, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, and support for advanced parking features. What’s more, it is all packed into a surprisingly small body. After testing it over the past few weeks, here’s my review.
4K first
The main attraction here is the 4K front camera. It records at 3840×2160, with HDR and an F1.55 aperture helping when lighting gets more challenging. For me, capturing registration plates and road signs is the absolute priority, so the extra detail offered by 4K is always welcome.
The 140-degree field of view gives a good look at the road ahead, while the 1080p rear camera covers what is happening behind. There is plenty else packed in too, including built-in GPS, voice control, and Wi-Fi 6.
A compatible hardwire kit unlocks parking surveillance, while the optional 4G setup goes further with remote viewing, vehicle tracking, alerts and cloud features through the 70mai app. Although, this does require additional hardware and a compatible data/service setup.
Camera quality is the real advantage here

For me, the biggest positive is the front camera quality. The footage is clear and detailed during the day, while low-light results are better than I was expecting. HDR does a good job when moving between bright and dark areas, and I’m all for a little software assistance on poorly lit UK roads.
I also really like the size. The A810 Lite is roughly bank card-sized and fits neatly behind the rear-view mirror. It is discreet, but 70mai has still managed to include a 3.18-inch screen and physical controls.

Those physical controls work very well and moving throughout the camera’s software is smooth. This is helpful for those occasions where you want to make a quick change to the settings before setting off. If a dash cam is slow to startup and respond, it can be a real drag.
Wi-Fi 6 is another highlight. Moving large 4K clips can be a pain with slower dash cams, so faster transfers are genuinely useful.
The limitations

The biggest compromise comes when using both cameras. The front camera can record at 30 FPS on its own, but drops to 24/25 FPS in dual-channel mode. The footage is still detailed, and I don’t personally mind the lower frame rate, but other potential buyers might, so it’s well worth mentioning.
The rear camera is also not on the same level as the front, especially at night. It is good enough for general coverage, but glare and reduced detail can make finer information harder to see.
Some of the best parking and 4G features require additional hardware too, which is worth remembering.

Final Verdict
At $149.99, the 70mai A810 Lite Dash Cam offers a strong mix of features and good overall camera quality. The 4K front recording is the main highlight, while the compact design and simple controls make it easy to live with. There are a few compromises, particularly with dual-channel recording and the rear camera, but nothing that ruins the overall experience. For the price, it is a solid and capable dash cam.
