How to start Bloody Harvest Borderlands 3 event?

It’s almost Halloween, which means tons of titles are getting spooky seasonal makeovers to entice players into celebrating in-game. In the case of Gearbox Software and 2K Games’ cel-shaded shooter, however, many have been left wondering how to start the Bloody Harvest Borderlands 3 event. Accessing this new content may not be as straightforward as you’d initially think, so here’s everything you need to know in order to do some All Hallow’s Eve lootin’ and shootin’.

The Bloody Harvest seasonal event runs from October 24 right through to December 5, 2019. It might just be the world’s longest Halloween party, but it seems like fans might need the extra time as merely figuring out how to access it is proving to be a challenge.

In order to solve your Bloody Harvest woes, here’s what you need to do to get into the free update:

  • Ensure that the latest Borderlands 3 patch is installed
  • In-game, players should start encountering the all-new “Haunted” enemy type
  • Hunt down and kill these enemies (which emit a telling green glow) to earn a new resource called “Hecktoplasm”
  • Return to Sanctuary III and seek out Maurice, a new Saurian NPC
  • In exchange for Hecktoplasm, Maurice will open a portal to Heck
  • Enter and you’re now playing the Bloody Harvest content

Once in Heck, players will encounter familiar enemies that have been reskinned for Halloween. By battling through hordes of zombie soldiers and flying Rakk-O’-Lanterns, Vault Hunters will eventually reach the new boss that caps off Bloody Harvest. Defeating this formidable foe, known as Captain Haunt, presents players with the chance to earn limited-time event loot items.

Of course, you won’t get all of the loot on your first run, so venturing back out into the main game is required to once again earn Hectoplasm and buy your way back in. Now through December 5, you can pay a visit to Maurice and replay Bloody Harvest as many times as you want in search of rare loot drops.
