Sony Withholding PS4 Stock To Deal With Shortages

The PlayStation 4 is going to be a hot item this holiday season. As such, it will likely be hard to find one without a pre-order when the console hits store shelves this November.

Knowing full well of the shortage issue that may lie in wait, Sony is doing all it can to prepare for the oncoming retail storm. In an interview with Fox News, Sony exec Jack Tretton explained how the company plans to combat potential shortages.

We want to make sure people can buy a PS4 on November 15 and through the holidays. So, we’re holding back some inventory to make sure people will be able to buy one.

We can pre-sell every unit we can manufacture, and the good news is that production yields have been phenomenal. We're going to work very hard to make sure that every consumer that wants one gets one.

Do you have Sony's next-gen console pre-ordered? Are you hoping you can just walk into a store and find one sitting on the shelf? Share with us your next-gen plans in the comments below.
