Atlus To Be Acquired By Sega

Sega Sammy Holdings, the parent company of Sega, is set to purchase Index Corporation, the owner of Atlus. The acquisition is set to take place this November.

The beloved developer and publisher of games like Persona 4 and Catherine holds a special place in the hearts and minds of JRPG fans, so let's hope that this move to Sega ultimately proves to be a positive thing for the company. Considering the current state of Index, it will certainly be a step up at the very least.

Sega Sammy will reportedly spend ¥14 billion ($141 million) to acquire Index, so it stands to reason that the higher-ups plan to treat the folks at Atlus right. I'd hate to see Persona 5 fail because of some corporate nonsense.

What do you think of the acquisition? Will this end up being a positive thing for Atlus? Let us know in the comments below.
