Wii U Not Arriving Until At Least Q2 2012

Nintendo announced the Wii U at their 2011 E3 Press Conference, but details on a release were rather vague (everything about the Wii successor was vague). They did say it wouldn't be out until 2012, but didn't commit to any specific time period.

But on Friday night's episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime said that the Wii U wouldn't be available until after April of 2012.

That's risky. As that's just two months short of E3 2012, where Microsoft and Sony could announce their next generation consoles. That would be ensure the Wii U spends the next generation as the weakest system, yet again.

What do you think? Is that too late for the Wii U to compete with the 360 and PS3, which have comparable specs? Or is Nintendo playing on an entirely different field than the other two console manufacturers.
